The Gringo S helmet, an old favorite, now boasts a new fit and updated features. This latest iteration not only meets the DOT regulations in the US, but also the new European ECE 22.06 standards. The shield mechanism now utilizes the same anti-rattle closure system found in our Lane Splitter helmets. Improved fit and comfort are achieved through the introduction of three shell sizes, replacing the previous two. This means the helmet will offer a more accurate and comfortable fit, particularly in the Medium and XXL sizes. Before ordering a new helmet, we recommend reviewing the measurements in our updated sizing chart to ensure the proper fit.
The helmet's outer shell is constructed using injection-molded ABS, making it lightweight and highly resistant to impacts. The internal safety shell features a new Dual Density expanded polystyrene (EPS) design, which absorbs and dissipates impact energy without compromising comfort. The BioFoam head form panel and ventilated polyester padding work together to maximize airflow around your head, ensuring coolness and comfort during your rides.
The molded urethane chin bar pad is designed to dissipate energy during frontal impacts. The chin strap incorporates brushed fleece Lycra touchpoints for enhanced comfort, and a double D-ring retention system with a red quick-release pull tab for easy and speedy removal.
The removable or replaceable comfort liner and cheek pads are made with fleece Lycra and open-cell foam padding, which effectively absorb and evaporate perspiration.
The CE-certified injection-molded polycarbonate shield boasts anti-fog and anti-scratch treatments, ensuring durability and safety. The robust hinge hardware with detents allows you to ride with the shield open at lower speeds to increase cooling airflow. For a personalized look, anodized aluminum washers and stainless-steel hinge screws in various colors and finishes can be purchased separately.
Additionally, the molded EPS ear pockets accommodate select aftermarket audio accessories.
The Gringo S helmet is both US DOT FMVSS No. 218 and ECE R22.06 certified, ensuring compliance with the necessary safety standards.
