Our latest Gringo S helmet not only meets DOT regulations in the US, but also the new European ECE 22.06 standards. This old favorite has been enhanced with a new fit and updated features. The shield mechanism now utilizes the same anti-rattle closure employed in our Lane Splitter helmets. Three shell sizes have replaced the previous two, resulting in a more accurate and comfortable fit, especially in the Medium and XXL sizes. Before ordering a new helmet, be sure to consult the revised sizing chart to ensure the best possible fit.
The injection-molded ABS outer shell is lightweight yet highly resistant to impacts. The new Dual Density expanded polystyrene EPS internal safety shell absorbs and dissipates impact energy without compromising comfort. The BioFoam head form panel and ventilated polyester padding maximize airflow around your head, promoting coolness and comfort.
The molded urethane chin bar pad dissipates energy during frontal impacts. The chin strap features brushed fleece Lycra touchpoints for comfort, and a double D-ring retention system with a red quick-release pull tab for easy removal. The removable or replaceable comfort liner and cheek pads are constructed with fleece Lycra and open-cell foam padding, designed to absorb and evaporate perspiration.
The CE-certified injection-molded polycarbonate shield boasts anti-fog and anti-scratch treatments, ensuring durability and safety. The rugged hinge hardware with robust detents allows you to ride with the shield open at lower speeds, increasing cooling airflow. Anodized aluminum washers and stainless-steel hinge screws can be swapped with different colors and finishes, allowing you to personalize the look of your helmet (available separately). Molded EPS ear pockets are designed to accommodate select aftermarket audio accessories.
In summary, the Gringo S helmet is not only DOT FMVSS No. 218 compliant, but also ECE R22.06 certified, ensuring compliance with the latest safety standards in both the US and Europe.
