Harsh household or petroleum-based chemicals should be avoided, as they can damage the shield's special coatings. If the retainer snap becomes tight or sticky, a drop of light household oil can be applied to the inside. Additionally, applying a medium-strength blue thread-locker to the hinge screws every time a shield is installed is recommended.
