Biltwell GS Shields - Product Description The Biltwell GS helmets feature replacement shields available in two styles - bubble or flat. These shields are injection-molded using highly scratch- and impact-resistant polycarbonate thermoplastic. The latest Gen-2 shields fit all Biltwell GS models, thanks to an all-new baseplate kit that includes an improved mechanism for firmer detents across three open positions. An anti-fog treatment is included to ensure maximum optical clarity.
Construction The shields are constructed using injection-molded, scratch- and impact-resistant polycarbonate thermoplastic. A nickel-plated stainless-steel snap securely fastens the shield to the helmet shell.
Tinted & Mirrored Finishes Colored shields feature in-mold tint technology, while mirrored shields have a reflective coating in various surface finishes to reduce glare.
UV Protection All shield colors and styles provide 91% UV/A and 99% UV/B light resistance, based on the AATCC-138 test standard.
Anti-Fog The anti-fog treatment on the shield interior fights moisture buildup from breathing and humidity.
Care and Maintenance To clean the shield, use a mild soapy water solution and a microfiber cloth to loosen bugs and road debris, then dry it with a second clean microfiber towel. Avoid using harsh household or petroleum-based chemicals, especially on the inside, as they can damage the shield's special coatings. If the retainer snap becomes tight or sticky, apply one drop of general-purpose light household oil to the inside. When installing a new shield, apply one drop of medium-strength blue thread-locker to the threads of both hinge screws.
